Cats are usually very mobile, well balanced animals that rarely injure themselves, but after accidents or injuries, or in older age, lameness and pain can occur. Medical treatment is not always helpful in such cases, and acupuncture can be particulary useful for those cats that tolerate it.

Signs that a cat may be suffering pain, muscle spasm, or poor mobility include:
