Ultrasound Scanning

Diagnostic ultrasound involves clipping the hair and then using an
ultrasound probe on the skin over the affected area to image soft
tissue structures. Good detail of tendon, ligament, muscle and fluid
filled structures can be derived, and abnormalities on the surface of
bone can be seen, although ultrasound cannot penetrate bone and image
it’s internal structure. Diagnostic ultrasound is particularly useful
for imaging tendon, ligament, muscle and organs such as the liver,
spleen, kidneys, heart and surface of the lungs. A different type of
ultrasound can be used as a treatment to increase blood flow in an area
and aid healing.
